Bring a little of the Sol & Sahara Goods bakery home. Our small-batch, live sourdough starter comes from the stiff starter used in our handcrafted sourdough baked goods. Begin your own sourdough journey with a small portion you can feed and grow at home.

Limited release: 100 g portions, available while supplies last. Each portion contains approximately 50%-hydration live stiff sourdough starter. $25 per portion; one per order. No backorders.

Starter care

Transfer to a clean, food-safe container with room for expansion. To maintain a stiff starter, mix 10 g of starter with 10 g water and 20 g flour. Cover loosely and let ferment until visibly expanded. Feed as needed. Refrigerate between baking sessions after it is established. Activity varies with flour, water and temperature.
